TDA2030 audio power amplifier

TDA2030 is an audio power amplifier circuit produced by Telefunken, which adopts a V-shaped 5-pin single in-line plastic packaging structure. As shown in Figure 1, according to the shape of the lead can be divided into H-type and V-type. The integrated circuit is widely used in car stereo receivers and recorders, medium-power audio equipment, and has the characteristics of small size, large output power and low distortion. And has an internal protection circuit. Italian SGS company, American RCA company, Japanese Hitachi company, NEC company, etc. have all produced similar products. Although their internal circuits are slightly different, the pin positions and functions are the same and can be interchanged.
Circuit characteristics:

[2]. The output power is large, Po = 18W (RL = 4Ω).

[5]. Contains various protection circuits, so the work is safe and reliable. The main protection circuits are: short-circuit protection, thermal protection, accidental open circuit of the ground wire, reverse polarity of the power supply (Vsmax = 12V), and load dump voltage kickback.

Precautions:

TDA2030 has a load dump voltage kickback protection circuit. If the peak voltage of the power supply voltage is 40V, then an LC filter must be inserted between pin 5 and the power supply to ensure that the pulse train on pin 5 is maintained within the specified amplitude.

Thermal protection: Thermal limiting protection has the following advantages, it can easily withstand the overload of the output (even for a long time), or protect the environment when the ambient temperature exceeds.

Compared with ordinary circuits, heat sinks can have a smaller safety factor. If the junction temperature is exceeded, there will be no damage to the device. If this happens, Po = (and of course Ptot) and Io will be reduced.

Printed circuit board design must better consider the decoupling of the ground wire and the output, because these lines have a large current through.

No insulation is needed between the heat sink and the assembly. The lead length should be as short as possible. The soldering temperature should not exceed 260 ° C for 12 seconds.

Although the TDA2030 requires few components, the components selected must be quality-assured components.
