Voice-activated smart speakers, serving as the primary interface for smart homes, were expected to shine even more at CES 2018. Investors were advised to keep an eye on companies like Guoguang (a smart speaker manufacturer), Wentai Technology (a smart hardware ODM provider), and HKUST (a leader in voice recognition).
Baidu also made a notable appearance with the launch of Apollo 2.0, its autonomous driving system. Supported by national policies and continuous technological advancements, the driverless industry is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Baidu's self-driving division was recognized as one of the first national-level AI open innovation platforms, highlighting its importance in the field. Leading companies in the autonomous driving space include Luchang Technologies, Thousands of Technology, NavInfo, and Suoling.
In the intelligent robot sector, the BUDDY robot received one of the top 20 innovation awards at CES 2018, signaling growing interest in smart machines. According to Citic Securities, China is poised to transition from a follower to a leader in service robotics. Products like drones, cleaning robots, and smart speakers have already gained consumer acceptance, indicating strong potential for further growth in the sector.
