OLED is the mainstream technology of mobile phones in the future, LCD screen has been abandoned

OLED technology is set to become the dominant display solution in smartphones in the coming years. While LCD screens were once the standard, they are gradually being phased out. The iPhone X was one of the first devices to introduce OLED technology, and since then, a global shift toward OLED has been underway. This trend is expected to accelerate, with Samsung positioned as the biggest winner in this transition. ![OLED is the mainstream technology of mobile phones in the future, LCD screen has been abandoned](http://i.bosscdn.com/blog/27/55/81/0-1G2141T41c15.png) According to IHS Markit, the global market for smartphone OLED displays reached $4.7 billion in the third quarter of this year—an increase of 30% compared to $3.6 billion in the same period last year. As more manufacturers adopt OLED technology, it’s predicted that over 53% of smartphones will use OLED screens by 2020. And again, Samsung is likely to benefit the most from this shift. Samsung currently holds the largest share of the OLED display market at 34.1%, followed closely by Japan’s JOLED with 13.6%, LG Electronics at 11.7%, and Sharp at 8.2%. These figures highlight Samsung’s strong position in the industry. In addition to these established players, Chinese manufacturer BOE is also making significant strides in OLED development. Not only is the company investing heavily in R&D, but it's also expanding its production capacity. Reports suggest that Apple is testing BOE’s OLED panels and may eventually include them in its supply chain. If this happens, the domestic OLED industry could see a major breakthrough. Another important point to note is that fingerprint sensors under OLED screens have become more reliable and efficient. This means that next year’s full-screen smartphones with in-display fingerprint recognition are likely to gain even more popularity. It’s an exciting time for the smartphone industry, and we can expect more innovations in the near future.
