The TDK Group has launched a new line of ultra-compact EPCOS film capacitors, designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance, space-saving components in modern electronics. These capacitors are ideal for DC link applications in inverters and feature a compact size of just 40mm x 58mm (depth x length). They are rated at 350V DC with a capacitance of 65μF, offering an impressive capacitance density of 0.9μF/cm³. This is a significant improvement over competing products, delivering 50% more capacitance in the same footprint.
In addition to their high capacitance, these capacitors also provide excellent electrical performance, with an equivalent series resistance (ESR) as low as 10mΩ and a strong ripple current capability of 3.7A. This makes them well-suited for high-frequency applications where efficiency and reliability are key. Their small size allows for more flexible PCB layout options, helping engineers optimize board space without compromising on performance.
Constructed using durable plastic and epoxy sealing materials, the capacitors are UL 94 V0 flame-retardant rated and can operate reliably within a wide temperature range of -25°C to +65°C. A notable safety feature is the integrated thermal fuse, which automatically disconnects the circuit when the temperature reaches 115°C or the current exceeds 5A, ensuring enhanced protection against overheating and overcurrent conditions.
