The VR industry is experiencing a cold current, and the problem of dizziness is still the key

With the emergence of VR physical prototypes, the commercial potential of virtual reality has reached a new peak. While people were still basking in the "VR glory," a "cold wave" quietly began to take hold, marking a shift from frenzy to calm. The Chinese VR industry has experienced a rollercoaster journey, rising and falling rapidly in a short span of time. In 2016, VR was heavily promoted by Chinese media as the "first year" of the technology. However, by the end of that same year, it had already started to fade from the spotlight. Despite this, VR technology has actually existed for decades. So why is it only now gaining attention in China? Although VR has been around for years, its recent surge in visibility can be attributed to advancements in hardware and software, as well as growing consumer interest. Yet, despite this progress, the development of VR remains slow, with many considering it still in its early stages. One major reason for this slow growth is the lack of compelling content. But more importantly, the user experience is often unsatisfactory. Many users find the current VR experiences uncomfortable, especially due to the heavy reliance on head-mounted displays. This leads to issues like motion sickness, which affects a large portion of users and hinders widespread adoption. When using VR devices, there's a noticeable delay between head movement and visual feedback. While this may not be a big issue during short sessions, prolonged use can lead to significant discomfort. This phenomenon is not an isolated case but a common physiological response to the immersive nature of VR technology. The problem lies in how VR creates an environment that exceeds our natural visual perception. As humans are visually oriented, we tend to move our heads and eyes frequently to explore unfamiliar surroundings. When this instinct is disrupted by VR’s delayed feedback, it can cause disorientation and nausea. At its core, VR is a UI interface technology, with the visual experience being the most critical component. Other sensory simulations are secondary extensions. A good visual experience creates the illusion of immersion, making users feel as if they are truly inside a digital world. When combined with technologies like big data and artificial intelligence, VR becomes even more powerful. It enables the creation of fully interactive virtual environments, offering a new way for humans to engage with digital spaces. In various industries, data and manufacturing form the foundation. Above that, AI processes and analyzes data, while VR serves as the human-computer interaction interface. Through VR, users can interact with digital systems in a more intuitive and comfortable way. Currently, nearly half of the global VR companies were established within the last two years. Most are still learning as they go, navigating through uncertainty. However, the market is highly competitive, and those who don’t innovate risk being left behind. For VR startups, the focus should be on improving technology and finding sustainable business models. For investors, it’s about exploring deep applications across different sectors. And for traditional enterprises, it’s time to consider how VR can be integrated into their industries, just as the internet transformed many sectors in the past.
