Short commentary sun ray sun Brief commentary Short three: After six months whether there is cost? Glory V9 Enjoy Edition 6GB+128GB Magic Night Black Sun

At 818, JD.com had a big sale where the Honor V9 dropped to 2899 yuan. I wasn’t overly concerned about UFS vs eMMC, so when I stumbled upon this price, I thought it was worth checking out. Even though it’s a first-half-of-the-year model, apart from the UFS, the overall configuration still falls into the mid-to-high range. There’s not much to say about it anymore—it’s already sold out. Moving on to another older model, let’s talk about the Honor V9 Enjoy Edition in Magic Night Black. First off, the Honor V9 Enjoy Edition Magic Night Black—Jane Open Box version. Since it’s an older product, I won’t spend too much time describing it. Just imagine two A4 sheets laid out on a desk—no fancy lighting needed. Frankly, I’m being lazy here. It’s been a while since I’ve taken photos like this. Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is restricted to sales and maintenance within China. The charging adapter appears darker in the photo, but it’s actually white. The Huawei V9 uses a fast charger rated at 5V/2A or 9V/2A, and the data cable follows the USB Type-C standard used in flagships. These components are interchangeable with those from the previous Honor V8. The packaging for the Honor V9 has reverted to a stacked design, with the phone on top and the accessories below. While functional, this approach isn’t as innovative as the drawer-style packaging of the Honor V8. The accessories aren’t packed neatly in boxes like they were for the V8, which makes everything feel less polished. The Honor V9 still comes with a simple VR glasses case, but it’s simpler and uses thinner materials than the V8 version. Basic contents include the Honor V9 itself, a USB Type-C data cable, a fast charger, a product manual, three sets of certificates, a SIM eject tool, and VR lenses. The VR experience is minimal, with only two lenses included. I recall that earlier models came with additional accessories like glasses and a nose pad. Despite the price increase, the user experience seems to have regressed. Next, let’s discuss the Honor V9 Enjoy Edition’s Magic Night Black details. Because the lighting wasn’t great, the charger looks a bit gray, but it’s actually white. The Honor V9 uses a fast charger rated at 5V/2A or 9V/2A, and the data cable adheres to the USB Type-C standard used by flagships. These components are interchangeable with those from the previous Honor V8. As an upgrade over the Honor V8, the Honor V9 also features a 5.7-inch screen and an integrated metal body. If you place both devices side by side, the外观 differences aren’t very noticeable. Both have their Honor logos in the same position. The three openings in the forehead are identical: from left to right, they’re an 8-megapixel camera, a sensor, and a handset. The edges of the Honor V9 have a curved transition, unlike the chamfered edges of the V8. In terms of grip, the V9 feels more comfortable. Due to the change in the flat body design, the Honor V9 is thinner than the V8 (the V8 was a single-body design). The official battery capacity for the V9 is also more robust, reaching 4000mAh, which is over 500mAh more than the V8. The Honor V9 eliminated the Spirit Spirit design, reverting to the two-button layout for volume and power. Presumably, user feedback indicated that the previous design wasn’t well-received. Personally, I find the function key useful for quickly accessing the camera and taking screenshots. The 3.5mm headphone jack is located at the bottom. The original left microphone reverted to a small round hole instead of the symmetrical opening on the Honor V8. The rightmost microphone opening now has a five-hole design and is positioned closer to the edge. Interestingly, the Honor V8 didn’t have any exposed screw holes. The most significant design difference between the Honor V9 and V8 is on the back. First, the laser focusing device is hidden beneath the left DUAL LENS label. The prominent black box on the Honor V8 has been eliminated on the V9. The fingerprint unlock button has changed from an ellipse to a perfect circle and is slightly higher up. However, when I tried it, I found the unlocking action to be a bit stiff. After booting up, the Honor V9 still looks quite impressive, although the 2K screen effect isn’t particularly noticeable. This Honor V9 model I bought features a Kirin 960 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It runs on the EMUI 5.1 system, which is based on Android 7.0. There’s no need to worry about lagging performance. By contrast, the Honor V8 is still stuck on EMUI 5.0. Huawei hasn’t abandoned its older users, right? There’s plenty of online discussion about the hardware specifications. Instead, let’s take a quick look at the camera performance. The Honor V9 is equipped with dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, similar to the V8. From the official data, the differences seem negligible. The main upgrade is the third-generation dual-camera algorithm, which further optimizes the effects of the black-and-white camera mode and the large aperture mode. Is this third-generation dual-camera algorithm just software optimization? To test it, I quickly snapped a close-up of the calendar behind me. The text was somewhat blurry and hard to read. Personally, I don’t notice a significant difference compared to the V8. The black-and-white image effect is visually appealing and offers high playability. Looking at photos taken with the Honor V9 versus the V8 (images are readily available but not precisely angled), it’s clear that the two have distinct color profiles. The Honor V9 produces more vibrant, greener images that are more pleasing to the eye. However, the distant couch appears too dark, losing some detail. A simple street view photo shows that the Honor V9 captures even more vivid greens and reds. The outlines of the leaves are clearer, and the lines appear sharper and more three-dimensional. The Honor V8’s images seemed slightly washed out and overly bright. Summary: Advantages: 1. Third-generation dual-camera shooting capabilities are enhanced. 2. The curved body feels better in hand. 3. The headphone jack moved to the bottom. 4. 2K screen, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage make it a flagship configuration. Disadvantages: 1. The packaging isn’t as compact. 2. The body attracts fingerprints easily. 3. The unlock button position is too high. 4. Camera performance parameters haven’t seen significant improvements. The feel of the Honor V9 is superior to the V8, and its appearance is lighter and more colorful. While the camera parameters haven’t improved compared to the V8, the new third-generation dual-camera algorithm compensates for this. Not only has its performance improved, but it also eliminated the 32GB storage option and standardized the screen resolution to 2K. However, the price increased from the original 2299 yuan for the Honor V8 to 2599 yuan for the V9. As an internet brand, how does the Honor V9 stack up in terms of value? You’ll have to compare it with other options. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. By Staylalala 0831
