The LT3029 is a dual channel, micropower, low noise and low dropout linear regulator. The device's input voltage range is 1.8V to 20V and can be operated with a common input supply or with a separate input supply per channel. Each output provides up to 500mA of output current and a typical dropout voltage of 300mV. In the differential pressure state, the quiescent current is well controlled. With an external 10nF bypass capacitor, the output noise can be reduced to only 20μVRMS (within 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth). The device is designed for use in battery powered systems. In shutdown mode, the quiescent current is reduced to less than 1μA. Downtime control is independent for each channel, providing flexibility in power management.
The LT3029 utilizes a low ESR ceramic output capacitor to optimize stability and transient response with a minimum capacitance of only 3.3μF. This regulator does not require additional ESR (ESR) as is common to other regulators. It is an abbreviation for the three words Equivalent Series Resistance, which translates to “equivalent series resistance.” The emergence of ESR has caused the behavior of the capacitor to deviate. The original definition. ESR is an equivalent "series" resistor, meaning that connecting two capacitors in series will increase this value, while paralleling will reduce it. Internal circuitry provides reverse battery protection, reverse current protection, foldback current limiting, and thermal shutdown. The device can be used as an adjustable output voltage device with a 1.215V reference. The LT3029 is available in a thermally enhanced 16-lead MSOP package and a 16-pin, low profile (4mm x 3mm x 0.75mm) DFN package.
