With the ongoing upgrades in both consumer demand and industrial development, large-size TVs have entered a mass adoption phase and are now the top choice for new consumers. However, with so many options available on the market, how can buyers determine the right size for their needs?
Recently, Suning and AVC released the "2017 Color TV Consumer Screen Report," offering valuable insights to help consumers make informed decisions.
The report highlights that while overall appliance market growth has slowed, demand for larger screens has become increasingly prominent. According to Yikang data, in 2017, the sales of 60- and 70-inch TVs significantly outperformed other sizes in the retail market.
In 2017, the average TV screen size purchased by consumers reached 57.7 inches, while Suning users opted for even larger models, averaging 60.9 inches. This made Suning the leading sales channel for large-screen TVs.
According to a representative from Suning's color TV division, advancements in display technology have led to bigger screens with reduced space requirements. Even a 65-inch TV is now best viewed from about 2 meters away, making it suitable for living rooms as small as 20 square meters. This shift has contributed significantly to the nationwide increase in average TV screen sizes.
The "2017 Color TV Big Screen Consumer Report" also shows that cities like Shanghai, Beijing, and Zhejiang, known for their developed economies, are leading the trend in large-screen TV purchases. In particular, Shanghai leads the country with an average TV size of 59.1 inches.
Hisense emerged as a top brand in the large-screen market in 2017, ranking first in consumer preference across 16 provinces and cities. This success is closely tied to its laser TV line, which offers sizes ranging from 80 to 150 inches at more affordable prices than traditional LCD TVs.
Suning became the primary sales channel for Hisense’s laser TVs, with over 70% of these models sold through Suning in 2017. In 2018, the two companies plan to open over 50 laser TV experience centers nationwide, enhancing the shopping experience for consumers.
