Introduction: Resistors are the most commonly used components in electrical circuits. The main physical characteristic of electrical resistance is that electrical energy is converted into thermal energy. It can also be said to be an energy-consuming component through which electrical current generates thermal energy. Resistors are usually placed in circuits, either in series or in parallel, depending on the situation.

If you place the resistor in a series circuit, the resistor can limit the amount of current that passes through it, limiting the current flow to the limit. His main purpose is to protect components and prevent excessive current from burning out electronic components. In addition, the current limiting resistor can also function as a voltage divider. Because of the size and combination of resistors used, it can act as a booster and a depressor. In a parallel circuit, the main function of the resistor is shunting, which usually uses a very low ampere meter resistor to pass a current in the high-precision resistance measuring circuit, making the current through this part of the circuit smaller. The small resistors have a lot of functions to use, which also needs to be adjusted according to different situations, so the resistance can be used in the circuit so widely.

The role of resistance is so much that it covers a wide range of applications. When it is combined with other components, the function is not to be underestimated. Resistors are used in the circuit as voltage dividers, shunts, and load resistors; they can be combined with capacitors to form filters and delay circuits, used as sampling resistors in power circuits or control circuits; and so on. As an example, the role of resistance can be described as the most widely used component.
