Samsung is suspected of stealing LG's OLED display technology

It is reported that Samsung (SamsungDisplay) suspected of stealing LG's OLED display technology. On April 9, the Seoul Local Police Bureau searched four office locations, including Samsung Headquarters, and did not find evidence that Samsung showed specific crimes. Samsung responded that it has the world's most advanced OLED technology and there is no reason to steal it from other companies.

A Samsung spokesperson said that the Seoul City Police Department investigators recently searched the OLED related documents at the headquarters office in Asan to confirm whether Samsung actually did steal. Samsung spokespersons have repeatedly stressed that Samsung has no reason to steal other company technology. A spokesman for LG said that the latest investigation is related to large-size OLED TV panel technology, and the police have made charges.

The South Korean government arrested 11 R&D personnel suspected of stealing Samsung's OLED panel technology last year, six of whom worked at LG. In September last year, LG filed a patent lawsuit against Samsung OLED technology. In November, Samsung began responding and counterclaimed its main competitors. However, in February of this year, the two sides rectified the patent litigation in the Korean government.
