LED indoor lighting penetration or increase

It is reported that in 2013, traditional lighting manufacturers began to switch to LED lighting, and the difference between LED and traditional lighting has dropped to 1.5-2 times, which is expected to promote the rapid increase in the penetration rate of LED indoor lighting.

According to the industry, the demand for LED backlighting began to increase during the March-April period, and the production capacity of first-line LED packaging plants was already close to full production. With domestic packaging plants entering the TV backlight supply chain, chip purchases have also shifted to more cost-effective domestic manufacturers.

In March, driven by the shift in backlight demand and the gradual increase in lighting orders, revenue from LED packaging companies in Taiwan increased by 23.5% year-on-year, and LED chip company revenue decreased by 9.3% year-on-year. The industry believes that chip company revenue decline is mainly attributed to mainland chip manufacturers. As a result of the increase in market share, the revenue of first-line plants such as Jingdian and Yuyuan was flat in the same period of last year in March, and the production capacity in the second quarter was nearly full.

In addition to Ruifeng Optoelectronics and Dongshan Precision, mainland companies, Wanrun, Jufei, Guoxing Optoelectronics and other packaging companies also began to supply bulk quantities to TV manufacturers. In April and April, packaging companies were basically close to full capacity, while LED backlight chips were purchased. Also began to turn to cost-effective domestic companies to promote the chip companies to increase the operating rate.

In March, Cree took the lead in introducing a LED bulb of 6W450lm with a price of US$9.99. The spread between LED and energy-saving lamps will be reduced by a factor of 2, while domestic manufacturers will launch a bulb with a retail price of US$6.99. The industry believes that the retail price of terminals will decline. Indoor LED lighting penetration increased.
