STMicro has introduced a 1.2W mono differential input audio power amplifier, the TS4994, which will be used in mobile phones, laptops, PDAs and portable audio devices.
The TS4994 can carry 1.2W continuous RMS (mean square) power at 5V, 8ohm resistance, and the total distortion produced at 1KHz becomes 1%. Its differential design improves noise immunity. At 217 Hz ground input, the common mode rejection ratio is 85 dB and the power supply rejection ratio is 100 dB.
The TS4994 operates from a 2.5V to 5V supply, and its signal-controlled wait mode increases flexibility in use, reducing energy consumption to 10nA and enabling fast startup in 15ms.
