According to the Botswana Broadcasting News on March 29, the Botswana National Power Company (BPC) is implementing a lighting energy-saving plan to replace all of the country's 1 million incandescent lamps with energy-saving lamps for free.
This program is part of Bo Power Management Plan, which BPC expects to save 30MW. According to the person in charge of BPC, the power generation capacity of the MORupULE power station is only 120MW, which is far from meeting the domestic power demand. The second phase expansion project of MORUPULE can be completed by the end of 2012, when the power generation capacity reaches 600MW, which can meet the national power demand.
